The Garlic Devas of Westview Farm - Garlic-lovers love Music!

About Us

Our display at the 2009 Bennington, VT Garlic and Herb Festival.

The Garlic Devas began with "partners-in-garlic",  Pooniel and Lynn.  We met each other through the love of garlic.  We  found that we share interest in vegetables, flowers, herbs, garlic, and all things magical.  The connection grew into a strong friendship.  We have MUSIC to thank, because  Lynn got her start by buying MUSIC  from Pooniel.  After discovering MUSIC'S amazing vigor and size, along with delicious flavor, it soon became apparent that this is the variety to grow. (To think that some people avoid garlic because they believe it repels others!)

While Pooniel no longer grows garlic for sale,  she remains a consultant and show partner.  Starr, my husband, has taken a larger role in the growing  and harvest process.

Our garlic grows where the southern Lewis County soils yield sweet delicious produce.  We follow organic principles, aiming to work with Nature, not against her.  Nature supports  those who respect the life in the soil and local ecosystem; yields are  beautifully abundant, flavor-full and nutritious.

In 2010-11 there were some areas of New York that were having problems with 2 garlic diseases.  These issues did not affect our farm.  To be sure, some samples were sent to Cornell's disease lab in 2010, and the report was that "no nematodes were detected".  The 2011 bulbs look healthy! Nothing weird going on in the garlic patch this year.
