Artichoke Red...
is a soft-necked member of the Artichoke branch of the garlic family. It produces medium sized bulbs with two rings of cloves. Thin papery covering is easy to peel. The flavor is delicious without any strong after taste. It keeps very well.
(Braids on the left are Artichoke Red.)
Music...
is a Porcelain variety that dries to a beautiful white. When freshly pulled, some bulbs show purple striping that fades as it dries. Large bulbs contain 4 to 5 huge cloves that are well flavored without being over powering. The cloves peel easily. The bulbs are good keepers, often into early June. Single bulbs can weigh 6oz!
German Red...
is a stiff-necked Rocambole variety.
The flavor is a bit spicy, with no bitterness. The flavor mellows with cooking. The cloves are wrapped in sturdy bronze-pink "papers" that peel easily. Each bulbs contains 6-8 cloves, arranged in a single layer around the stem. The bulb weight ranges from 3-5oz.
